This screen saver was distributed to hundreds of ESPN affiliate members and cable operators across Southern Asia and the Near East (from India to Taiwan) to promote their new brand identity and increase viewership of on-air sports programming. Consumers could also download the screen saver via the ESPN Sports Web site.
The screen saver, when activated, served as a calendar and clock showing the current date and time as well as a unique sporting fact for that particular day of the year. Each sports fact screen was randomly assembled from a library of sports photos and varying colored backgrounds to create a unique screen each time it was viewed. In between sports facts screens, ESPN program sporting highlights for the current month were displayed to remind viewers of upcoming events and programming.
