Doodle-Bot

Rombots

A look at the Doodle-Bot with floating palettes for pen options, color selection and robo-assist.

The Doodle-Bot Drawing Program is one of the feature activities on Rombots.com, a web site devoted to fun with a retro robot flair. In this application, players doodle on the Doodle-Bot's body, a large white drawing surface. Floating palettes give the doodler a variety of options to choose from.

The Pen Options palette lets the doodler change the pen size and amount of blur to create effects ranging from hard-line to airbrush-like. The Color Selector offers the complete rainbow of colors while remembering the last 15 colors used, for easy selection later. Switch on one of the Robo-Assisted Drawing modes and the Doodle-Bot mimics and mirrors what the doodler draws, creating many useful and interesting effects. Even the doodler with little to no drawing ability can still create fun art!

When the doodler has finished their masterpiece, they can save it to the Doodle Gallery, an online repository for all the great works of art created with the Doodle-Bot. Visitors to the gallery page can view thumbnails of the doodles plus the title, artist name and the date it was drawn. Clicking on a thumbnail opens the full-sized doodle in a new window.

On the back-end, administrator functions alert moderators to newly posted doodles and allow them to quickly view and delete any inappropriate doodles.
